This technology is an automatic vehicle headlight control method where, upon ignition, a control unit communicates with the ECU to check the headlight status. If the headlights are off, an ambient light sensor detects the surrounding brightness; if it is darker than a set threshold, the system displays a message and sends a signal to the ECU to activate either the low or high beams.
So-called "stealth vehicles" driving at night without headlights often occur because drivers perceive the road as sufficiently bright or fail to notice the gradual onset of darkness, leading to accidents because other drivers cannot see them. Furthermore, drivers rarely use high beams, resulting in poor visibility even in very dark areas.
This technology automatically activates low beams if the light sensor reading is below a first threshold, and high beams if it is below a second threshold. If the headlight lever is set to OFF at night, the verification process restarts every 5 seconds. This ensures headlights turn on automatically even if the driver accidentally leaves them off, while notifying the driver via a message. Applicable to aftermarket modules for older vehicles without auto-lights and ECU-integrated lighting systems, it fundamentally reduces nighttime rear-end collisions caused by unlit driving.
