This technology is a particle measurement device that measures fine particles in emissions by projecting planar light from one side of the chimney's interior and measuring scattered light using multiple light-receiving members arranged in two vertical tiers at different points on the opposite side and around the perimeter.
The Clean Air Conservation Act regulates chimney pollutants and particle levels based on emission standards. Previously, measurement personnel had to climb to the top of chimneys, which was dangerous and cumbersome. While automated Tele-Monitoring System (TMS) sensors were later introduced, their narrow measurement range makes it difficult to represent the particle volume of the entire chimney cross-section, and they have limitations in measuring particles by size.
This technology expands the measurement area by combining planar light with four light-receiving members placed at different heights and orientations, calculating both total particle volume and density by size based on scattering signal differences. It enables continuous, automated measurement without human intervention. Applicable to TMS in large facilities like power plants, incinerators, and steel mills, it ensures representative particle concentration data and more accurate compliance management.
