This technology provides diagnostic information to determine liver fibrosis caused by bisphenol A exposure by utilizing CHI3L1, identified through multi-omics analysis, as a biomarker. It compares CHI3L1 expression levels in biological samples against a control group and includes diagnostic compositions and kits.
Liver disease often lacks early symptoms and is frequently discovered only at advanced stages, making it a leading cause of death worldwide. The impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals like bisphenol A on the immune system and liver is not fully understood, leaving a lack of specific diagnostic tools for liver damage caused by these substances.
Based on multi-omics analysis showing that endocrine-disrupting chemicals induce T-cell changes that trigger specific markers and liver damage, this technology uses increased CHI3L1 and MMP-9 expression as indicators for liver fibrosis. It allows for assessment using easily obtainable samples like blood or serum. It can be applied to health screenings for high-risk groups exposed to environmental hormones and the development of in vitro diagnostic kits, establishing an early screening system for liver disease by causative agent.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Education's project for the development of integrated biological systems for controlling the risks of endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
