Implantation improvement technology that enhances endometrial cell proliferation and reduces endoplasmic reticulum stress using FGF2

This technology uses a composition containing fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) to treat non-human mammalian endometrial cells, enhancing their proliferative capacity and reducing the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced proteins. It focuses on improving the uterine environment for embryo implantation by utilizing naturally occurring growth factors.

Infertility is on the rise due to delayed childbearing and increased stress. While ovulation and fertilization issues are largely addressed by IVF, there has been no clear solution for implantation failure. Furthermore, endoplasmic reticulum stress in reproductive organs is known to cause abnormal placental development, fetal growth restriction, and miscarriage, creating a need for substances that can both promote endometrial cell proliferation and mitigate this stress.

This technology leverages the principle that FGF2 activates the PI3K/AKT and MAPK signaling pathways to boost endometrial cell proliferation while downregulating endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced proteins such as IRE1α, ATF6α, p-PERK, p-eIF2α, and GRP78. As it uses endogenous proteins, it carries a lower risk of toxicity and side effects compared to chemical synthetics. It can be applied to improve reproductive efficiency in livestock like pigs and cattle, as well as in animal IVF/embryo transfer and research models for implantation failure, helping to reduce reproductive loss and increase pregnancy maintenance rates.
