Immune-boosting food composition using Phellinus linteus polyphenol compounds, Hypholomine B and Davallialactone, to activate macrophages

This technology is a food composition for enhancing immune function, featuring Hypholomine B or Davallialactone—styrylpyrone compounds isolated from polyphenol extracts of Phellinus linteus—as active ingredients. These compounds promote cell proliferation and activate the immune response of macrophages.

While Phellinus linteus, known as Sanghwang mushroom, has gained attention for its anti-cancer and immune-activating properties, research has historically focused on polysaccharides like beta-glucan. Analysis of the components, content, and efficacy of the various secondary metabolites produced by medicinal mushrooms has lagged behind other microorganisms, limiting the development of mushroom-derived small-molecule compounds as immune-boosting agents.

This technology is designed to activate immune responses by increasing the production of TNF-α and IL-6 in macrophages using Hypholomine B and Davallialactone, with the active ingredients identified as specific single polyphenol compounds rather than polysaccharides. Applicable to immune-boosting health supplements, standardized indicator management for Phellinus linteus extracts, and functional foods for the elderly, it facilitates quality standardization and the verification of immune functionality based on clearly defined active compounds.
