This technology features an excavator equipped with a work attachment on a mobile base that allows for interchangeable auger screws. It drills by first installing a hollow first auger screw into the ground and then inserting a second auger screw through its center. A restraint device on the mobile base secures the first auger screw to prevent the equipment from lifting.
Existing backhoe-mounted drilling screws used for pre-drilled pile foundations, soft ground soil-cement grouting, and slope soil nailing often suffer from the front wheels lifting due to ground reaction forces during drilling. This lifting causes misalignment, degrading the quality of piles and nails, and limits drilling depth as reaction forces increase with depth.
This technology uses a restraint device consisting of first and second restraint nuts threaded onto the first auger screw, a pair of parallel bars contacting both sides of the auger between the nuts, a drawbar extending from the mobile base to connect the parallel bars, and a connecting member on the opposite side to lock vertical movement between the auger and the equipment. The work attachment includes a reducer unit for the auger screw and an operating unit. Applicable to pre-drilled pile foundations, soil nailing for road/railway cut slopes, and deep soil mixing, it allows small drilling rigs to maintain precise drilling alignment at depth while retaining site mobility.
