This technology is an active sound quality control system that detects noise from power window/sunroof motors and gear units using reference sensors, outputs target and anti-phase sounds near the driver's ears, and simultaneously suppresses door panel vibrations using actuators.
While active noise control has been attempted to reduce operating noise in electric motor-based door modules like power windows and sunroofs, it has faced issues with system instability, leading to ineffective noise control. Furthermore, it was limited to simple noise attenuation, failing to achieve the premium sound quality desired by consumers.
This technology first reduces structure-borne noise using panel vibration sensors and actuators, then adds the cancellation signal for residual noise to the active sound quality control signal to reduce start, travel, and stop impact sounds. Distorted window movement sounds are transformed into smooth waveforms based on a target sound profile. Applicable to premium vehicle door and sunroof modules, it goes beyond simply erasing window operation sounds to create the quiet, luxurious operating sounds intended by the brand.
