This technology integrates front and side distance sensors and an external indicator into the vehicle's side mirrors, along with an internal display for the cabin. It alerts both the driver and external parties to the proximity of vehicles, structures, or pedestrians, and automatically triggers deceleration and mirror folding when a dangerous distance is detected.
As the most protruding parts of a vehicle, side mirrors are frequently damaged by collisions with oncoming vehicles, utility poles, or building walls in narrow alleys, and accidents involving pedestrians are common in mixed-traffic areas. Existing devices are primarily limited to preventing door damage during parking and fail to alert both drivers and pedestrians to risks around the side mirrors while driving.
When the control unit detects an object within a first range, it activates the braking system to decelerate the vehicle. If the object moves within a second, closer range during deceleration, it triggers the electric folding mechanism to retract the side mirrors. The LED side indicator increases its brightness and flashing speed as the distance decreases to warn those outside. Applicable to passenger cars, taxis, and delivery vehicles, this technology provides a dual-layered prevention system that allows both drivers and pedestrians to recognize collision risks.
