Ceiling-Integrated Automatic Powder Fire Extinguisher Using Bimetallic Thermal Deflection

This technology is a ceiling-integrated automatic fire extinguisher featuring a horizontal member that holds sealed powder extinguishing agent, supported by a pair of horizontal support members equipped with multiple bimetallic strips. In the event of a fire, the heat melts the sealing member and causes the bimetallic strips to bend, tilting or releasing the horizontal member to discharge the extinguishing agent onto the fire.

Conventional automatic fire extinguishers often have containers, valves, and nozzles that protrude from the ceiling, which detracts from interior aesthetics and reduces space efficiency. Furthermore, systems requiring manual intervention or electrical power are limited by lower reliability during power outages or in unmanned environments.

This technology operates solely through the thermal deformation of bimetallic strips, requiring no electricity or manual intervention. The temporary coupling structure between the horizontal member's protrusions and the support members' grooves ensures easy installation and smooth release during operation. Adding a string-type heat transfer element reaching the floor allows for rapid detection of fires near the ground. It can be installed within ceiling finishes in homes, warehouses, electrical rooms, and underground parking lots, providing reliable initial fire suppression during power outages without compromising aesthetics.

Key Features:
  • A first support member provided horizontally adjacent to the ceiling, and a second support member provided horizontally at the same height with a gap.
  • Multiple bimetallic strips with one side fixed to the sides of the first and second support members, which bend toward the horizontal member during a fire to release it.
  • An extinguishing unit consisting of a sealing member located on the top of the horizontal member to seal the powder extinguishing agent, which melts during a fire to expose the agent.
  • A coupling structure where temporary coupling grooves formed on the vertical plates of the L-shaped and inverted L-shaped support members and temporary coupling protrusions on the sides of the horizontal member are easily detached when the bimetallic strips deform.
