This technology is a composition for preventing and treating allergic diseases and atopic dermatitis using thiazole, a sulfur- and nitrogen-containing five-membered ring compound, or its salts as an active ingredient. All independent claims specify concrete disease groups, including edema, anaphylaxis, rhinitis, asthma, conjunctivitis, and allergies to insects, food, and drugs.
While existing atopic and allergy medications like steroids are useful for acute exacerbations, long-term use has been associated with skin atrophy and potential systemic side effects. Topical immunomodulators also lack established safety profiles, creating a need for low-irritation alternatives suitable for a wide range of allergic symptoms.
This technology leverages the anti-allergic effects of thiazole, which reduces the expression of Th2-type cytokines and inflammatory factors, as well as histamine secretion. It can be applied to quasi-drugs for conjunctivitis and rhinitis, anti-itch products for insect bites, and health functional foods for food allergy management, allowing a single ingredient patent to support a diversified line of allergy products.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for research on the skin anti-aging effects of suberic acid via olfactory receptors.
