This technology utilizes C11 to C12 alkane compounds or their salts as active ingredients to increase procollagen levels reduced by stress, thereby improving wrinkles and loss of elasticity in cosmetic, food, and fragrance compositions.
Glucocorticoids, such as cortisol secreted during repetitive stress, have been reported to reduce collagen synthesis in the dermis, leading to skin aging. With the addition of environmental stressors like UV rays and fine dust, there has been a demand for materials that can fundamentally alleviate stress-induced skin aging, but effective solutions have been lacking.
This technology blocks stress signaling by reducing GRE promoter activity and the expression of GILZ and FKBP5 in fibroblasts and nerve cells, ultimately restoring procollagen production. Since it uses naturally derived hydrocarbons recognized as safe for use in fragrances and food additives, it can be applied to anti-stress skincare and inner beauty products, making it suitable for long-term use.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT for research into the collagen production regulation system in the dermis mediated by skin olfactory receptors.
