This technology is an anti-aging composition that promotes skin hydration and muscle enhancement, utilizing gut microbiota from the families Muribaculaceae, Akkermansiaceae, Bacteroidaceae, Rikenellaceae, and Prevotellaceae that express Dbn1 (Drebrin 1) as an active ingredient.
As the population ages, the demand for anti-aging solutions has grown, and it is well-established that changes in the gut microbiome are linked to various age-related disorders. However, research has primarily focused on the effects of elderly microbiota on younger subjects, leaving a gap in understanding how microbiota derived from young subjects affect an aging host.
This technology confirms that fecal microbiota transplantation from young subjects improves aging symptoms and, noting the resulting increase in skin Dbn1 expression, proposes these microbes, their lysates, and their metabolites as anti-aging agents. Applicable to microbiome-based anti-aging cosmetics and sarcopenia-related health supplements, it allows for targeting both skin and muscle aging with a single gut microbiota-based material.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT for the development of microbiome omics data analysis technology.
