This technology is an acne treatment device consisting of a pair of skin-attachable pads and a control module that sets the microcurrent, frequency, and stimulation time. By applying a bio-level micro-constant current at a specific frequency, it helps acne medication applied to the skin absorb more effectively.
Acne treatments have traditionally included antibiotics, injections, chemical peels, and lasers, but these often come with side effects such as antibiotic resistance. While patch kits that generate nano-currents via potential differences between metals have been proposed, they have limitations in adjusting stimulation intensity and duration to suit individual user needs.
This technology uses a current generator and a frequency generator to output micro-constant current and frequency waveforms to the pads based on control module settings, with a keypad for incremental adjustments to current, frequency, and time. By applying repetitive stimulation with bio-mimetic currents that cause little to no muscle contraction or discomfort, it can reduce the side effects of chemical treatments while promoting inflammation relief. It can be applied to dermatological auxiliary equipment and home skincare devices, serving as a non-pharmacological aid to enhance the efficacy of existing acne treatments.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT for the development of multi-purpose bio-stimulation technology and devices for active ingredient delivery and cell activation based on microcurrent stimulation technology.
