Composition for inducing anti-aging using the circulating aging marker microRNA-21a-5p

This technology provides a pharmaceutical composition for anti-aging containing the circulating aging marker microRNA-21a-5p, which decreases in blood expression with age, as an active ingredient, and a method for inducing anti-aging in animals by administering it.

Existing aging research has focused on analyzing indicators of age-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and dementia, as well as delaying aging, leaving a lack of approaches to reverse the aging state itself. Furthermore, protein-based aging diagnostics have limitations, as they are unstable in environments with varying temperatures and pH levels, making it difficult to obtain consistent results.

This technology identifies blood microRNAs that consistently decrease with age and supplies them to the body to regulate the expression of aging-related genes in specific organs, such as the liver, thereby going beyond delaying aging to inducing anti-aging. It can be used in combination with other aging markers such as microRNA-16-5p and microRNA-17-5p. Applicable to the development of treatments for age-related diseases, pet aging management products, and anti-aging drugs, it presents a new therapeutic strategy that fundamentally regulates aging genes.

Key Features:
  • A pharmaceutical composition for anti-aging that reverses the aging state, containing microRNA-21a-5p consisting of the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5 as an active ingredient
  • A pharmaceutical composition for anti-aging further containing one or more of microRNA-16-5p, microRNA-130b-3p, microRNA-17-5p, microRNA-103-3p, and microRNA-30a-5p
  • An anti-aging inducer for non-human animals containing the pharmaceutical composition for anti-aging
  • A method for inducing anti-aging in non-human animals by administering microRNA-21a-5p alone or in combination with other aging marker microRNAs
