This technology is a scent generation device and control method that allows the brain to perceive a desired scent without actual fragrance by selectively stimulating olfactory nerves using a scent information processor and an olfactory stimulator connected to the nerves.
Conventional scent generation devices spray actual fragrances into a space or toward a person, making it difficult to remove residual scents when changing fragrances. This limits scent accuracy and creates maintenance burdens, such as the need to replenish or replace scent materials.
This technology builds a database of scent and stimulation information by measuring olfactory nerve responses to actual scents, then selectively stimulates specific nerves based on the type and intensity of the desired scent. Since there is no residual scent, fragrances can be changed instantly, and multiple people can experience different scents simultaneously. Applicable to immersive media, scent marketing, and olfactory-based mental health care, it enables new services that digitally control scent experiences without consuming raw materials.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the establishment of a research infrastructure for the practical application of chemosensory brain fusion.
