This technology features a composition that utilizes the naturally derived compound Acremonidine E, or its salts, as an active ingredient to achieve skin whitening and improve hyperpigmentation. It is designed to be developed into pharmaceutical compositions, cosmetics, quasi-drugs, and health functional foods.
Conventional whitening agents such as arbutin, ascorbic acid, and hydroquinone often suffer from insufficient efficacy or poor formulation stability. Furthermore, some ingredients like hydroquinone have restricted use due to concerns regarding skin sensitization and vitiligo, creating a need for safe alternative materials.
This technology enables Acremonidine E to inhibit both melanin production and tyrosinase expression, demonstrating significant whitening efficacy even at lower concentrations than arbutin. As a non-cytotoxic natural material, it can be applied to functional whitening cosmetics and products for treating melasma and freckles, allowing for formulation designs that achieve high efficacy at low concentrations.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the development of alternative animal testing technologies for evaluating the skin efficacy of new functional cosmetics using human full-thickness skin models.
