Natural Anti-Enteroviral Composition Derived from Streptomyces SCO774 Strain

This technology is an antiviral composition containing the Streptomyces SCO774 strain, which exhibits antiviral efficacy against enteroviruses, as well as its cells, cultures, lysates, and extracts. Specific compounds produced by this strain act as the key active ingredients that inhibit viral replication.

Enteroviruses are dangerous pathogens that cause hand, foot, and mouth disease, herpangina, meningitis, and encephalitis in infants and young children, sometimes leading to death. However, there have been virtually no effective treatments or preventatives available to combat them.

This technology utilizes substances derived from natural actinomycetes to effectively inhibit viral replication with low cytotoxicity. Applicable to treatments, health supplements, and quasi-drugs for pediatric enteroviral infections, it offers a competitive edge in developing natural product-based drugs for this underserved medical field.

‍

Key Features:
  • An antiviral composition comprising at least one of the cells, cultures, lysates, or extracts of the Streptomyces SCO774 strain (Accession No. KCTC14340BP)
  • An antiviral composition comprising an extract obtained by fractionating the culture with solvents such as water, ethyl acetate, methanol, ethanol, or hexane
  • A composition for the prevention or treatment of enteroviral infections, including enteritis, hand, foot, and mouth disease, herpangina, poliomyelitis, meningitis, and encephalitis
  • The Streptomyces SCO774 strain (Accession No. KCTC14340BP), which has antiviral efficacy against enteroviruses and produces the active compound of Formula 1
