This technology is a composition for preventing or improving hair loss by adding Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and Fibroblast Growth Factor 4 (FGF4) to a culture medium obtained from hair follicle cells derived from hair follicle tissue with attached hair shafts. This same culture medium composition is also used for wound healing and skin improvement.
Hair loss treatment has primarily relied on hair transplants or drugs such as minoxidil and finasteride. Rodent models used to verify growth factor effects have faced issues with inconsistent results due to differences in hair cycles compared to humans. Monkey models are costly and time-consuming, and with tightening regulations on animal testing, there is a clear need for new materials based on human hair follicles.
This technology enhances hair follicle regeneration by supplementing the hair follicle-promoting activity of human hair follicle cell culture medium with an optimal ratio of EGF and FGF4. It can be applied to hair loss treatments, scalp and hair care cosmetics, and wound healing products, allowing for the expansion of product lines into high-value stem cell culture-based hair loss solutions.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for the development of probiotic strains with infection-inhibiting and intestinal inflammation-alleviating functions.
