This technology is a pharmaceutical and cosmetic composition that uses calpeptin, a RhoA activator, as an active ingredient to promote skin hydration and strengthen weakened skin barriers. Based on the discovery that the RAB25 gene is deficient in states of compromised skin barriers, this method restores barrier function through RhoA activation.
Reduced moisture in the stratum corneum due to heating and cooling, frequent washing, environmental pollution, and aging leads to dry skin and a breakdown of barrier function, which can result in conditions such as atopic dermatitis. However, there has been a lack of therapeutic agents that fundamentally restore the skin barrier with minimal side effects.
This technology targets the RAB25 pathway, which is involved in keratohyalin granule formation and stratum corneum structure, to improve abnormal stratum corneum and barrier dysfunction by activating RhoA with calpeptin. It can be applied to atopic dermatitis treatments and functional cosmetics for moisturizing and barrier strengthening, allowing a single active ingredient to target both the pharmaceutical and dermocosmetic markets.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT for the construction and operation of a pathology phenotype analysis service system for genetically modified mice.
