This technology is a composition for the prevention and treatment of skin wounds that uses, as an active ingredient, a conditioned medium from mast cells stimulated with FSL-1, a Toll-like receptor 2 and 6 agonist. It can be formulated as pharmaceutical compositions, topical skin applications, and food products.
Mast cells have traditionally been known for exacerbating allergic diseases by releasing inflammatory substances like histamine. However, the fact that substances secreted by mast cells can promote the migration of skin keratinocytes and contribute to wound healing had not been established, and there were no prior applications of this as a wound treatment material.
This technology enhances the wound-healing capacity of mast cell-conditioned medium through FSL-1 stimulation. Components such as tryptase within the medium promote the migration of human skin keratinocytes, showing excellent recovery effects, particularly during the inflammatory phase. Since it uses culture-derived conditioned medium rather than direct cell transplantation, commercialization is relatively straightforward. It can be applied to treatments for burns, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and post-surgical wounds, as well as regenerative topical skin products, providing a new cell-derived therapeutic material for managing intractable wounds.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT for research into the mechanisms of lymphocyte migration and differentiation inhibition by cell therapeutics.
