This technology is a one-dimensional expansion pressure testing device that measures expansion pressure using a pair of force-measuring units inserted into both ends of a pipe body, which is rotatably mounted on a frame and filled with backfill and expansion materials. Each force-measuring unit consists of a piston, a load cell, and a compression spring.
In urban areas, ground subsidence frequently occurs due to aging water and sewage pipes, leading to the development of emergency restoration methods using expansive materials. However, there has been a lack of testing equipment capable of accurately simulating the behavior of mixed backfill and expansive materials underground and measuring the resulting expansion pressure.
This technology simulates the stiffness of surrounding ground and contraction due to compaction using a compression spring between the first and second pistons and a rod with a stepped section. A blocker prevents the load cell from moving, allowing for accurate expansion pressure readings. The rotatable body also simplifies sample loading and discharge. It can be applied to the development of expansive materials for emergency ground subsidence restoration and the design of soft ground reinforcement methods, enabling reliable laboratory verification of expansive material performance before field application.
