This technology utilizes extracts from dried rice straw—the stems and leaves remaining after grain harvest—obtained through water or organic solvent extraction. It serves as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating male menopause syndrome, a food composition for improvement, and a male hormone secretion stimulant. The extract enhances the gene and protein expression of testosterone-producing enzymes in testicular cells and directly increases testosterone secretion.
As the population ages, male menopause symptoms, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and sexual dysfunction related to declining testosterone levels have become more prevalent. However, the primary treatment, hormone replacement therapy, carries risks such as prostate enlargement, worsened sleep apnea, gynecomastia, polycythemia, and increased cardiovascular disease risk. Furthermore, since hormone replacement does not address the root cause, there has been a need for preventive and therapeutic materials that can halt symptom progression without such side effects.
This technology uses dried rice straw from Asian and African rice varieties, extracted with water or low-grade alcohol. Instead of introducing external hormones, it works by stimulating the body's own natural testosterone production. It targets various menopausal symptoms, including hypogonadism, loss of vitality, decreased libido, and depression, particularly focusing on testosterone deficiency. Applicable to health supplements for middle-aged men, non-hormonal treatment candidates for testosterone deficiency, and vitality drinks, it enables the creation of male health products from common, low-cost agricultural byproducts with fewer concerns regarding the side effects of hormone replacement therapy.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for the clinical verification of natural food and medicinal materials.
