This technology is a kit-type vise that forms a single module by combining a fixed base with a stationary jaw and a rotating base with an actuator for linear movement of a movable jaw. By coupling three or more of these modules horizontally, it secures curved objects by pressing them at multiple points.
Conventional vises use two jaws to grip a workpiece, leading to energy waste as they apply the same jaw area and driving force regardless of the object's size. Furthermore, curved objects have limited contact surfaces, which can lead to deformation from localized pressure or slippage during machining, causing misalignment.
This technology features a rotating base where a protrusion on the rotation axis moves along a fluid-filled arcuate passage in the hub, cushioning the rotation speed. Each movable jaw rotates independently until the sum of moments along the object's surface reaches zero, creating multiple contact points. The tongue-and-groove coupling between the piston cylinder case and the base allows for easy modular expansion or reduction. Applicable to metalworking machine tools, assembly jigs for pipes and curved parts, and prototyping workstations, it effectively prevents displacement of curved workpieces even with small contact areas.
