This technology is an electric vehicle fire suppression system that creates an enclosure using a frame and fire-resistant curtains installed in a parking space. When a fire sensor detects a fire, a drive unit rotates the door section to close the front opening, trapping the electric vehicle within an isolated space. A water barrier around the perimeter of the enclosure seals against the floor frame, allowing the fire to be extinguished without water leakage.
Electric vehicle fires involve thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries, causing high-temperature flames to erupt instantly. These fires require more time, personnel, and cost to suppress than conventional vehicle fires, and in indoor parking garages, they are difficult to approach, making initial response challenging. Existing methods, where personnel manually carry and drape fire blankets over the vehicle, are difficult to execute due to the intense heat and pose a high risk of injury.
This technology is configured so that upon fire detection, a water supply system fills the isolated space, a water level sensor drains excess water, an overhead sprinkler system sprays water, and an exhaust system removes toxic gases. A multi-stage rail frame extends from the pull-out rail to support the fire-resistant curtain of the door section. It can be applied to EV charging zones in apartment and residential underground parking lots, public and commercial parking facilities, and dedicated EV parking towers, isolating burning vehicles from surrounding ones before firefighters arrive to prevent fire spread and the diffusion of toxic gases.
