This technology is a bridge performance measurement method that extracts only dynamic displacement from GPS receiver data installed on the tops of multiple bridge towers using a filter, calculates random decrement (RD) signatures for each time window, and compensates for IRF values using Mahalanobis distance analysis to determine damping ratios and fundamental frequencies.
Bridge performance varies depending on wind, temperature changes, and traffic volume, and although dynamic movement factors significantly influence structural performance, accurately measuring them has been a challenge. There has been a lack of reliable means to evaluate the dynamic performance of bridges without the use of various additional sensors.
This technology removes anomalies caused by noise, sensor malfunctions, and operational or environmental fluctuations from IRF values, calculates damping ratios and fundamental frequencies using LSCE, HEM, and ERA algorithms, and enhances measurement accuracy by cross-verifying with accelerometer-based displacement. This method can be applied to structural health monitoring for long-span bridges such as cable-stayed and suspension bridges, enabling the efficient operation of a continuous safety diagnostic system using only GPS data.
This invention was developed with support from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the commercialization of PC retaining walls with integrated foundations using the Pre-Stress method.
