This technology is a data storage device that archives the movement history of mobile objects, such as vehicles, with minimal storage requirements. It defines route information by placing vertices at regular intervals on a map path and grouping them based on intersection points. It then identifies the vertices and routes corresponding to received locations, storing only the trajectory information—a collection of route data—in the database.
Existing movement history management systems stored all location information received from mobile objects at regular time intervals, leading to a continuous increase in data volume over time. Consequently, these systems often faced limitations where the movement history database exceeded its storage capacity.
This technology creates a virtual area around a mobile object's location to identify vertices within it. If corresponding vertices are not identified consecutively, it generates a new path to handle movements not present on the map. Applicable to logistics fleet management, taxi/bus operation logs, and location-based service servers, it significantly reduces storage space while allowing for the reconstruction of paths from origin to destination without storing raw coordinates.
