This technology is an antenna for mobile communication devices that combines a monopole antenna with a slotted patch antenna. By adding a branch to the patch antenna for specific frequency bands, it enables the transmission and reception of low, mid, and high-band signals through a single internal antenna.
Planar multiband antennas for mobile phones require bandwidth margins because resonant frequencies shift with environmental changes. However, most have narrow bandwidths in the lowest frequency range, which are difficult to expand. Adding multiple antennas or branches to increase bandwidth increases costs and consumes internal device space.
This technology divides roles: a first radiator without a slot and part of a second radiator with a slot handle the low band, a branch on the second radiator handles a specific band, and a monopole antenna spaced on the same plane handles the high band. A first line connected to the feed point is routed along the 3D edges. It can be used in smartphones, tablets, and laptops, supporting multiple bands without extra antennas while saving internal space.
