IoT-Based Anti-Snoring System with Air-Cushion Pillow and Centralized Control

This technology is an IoT-based anti-snoring system featuring a pillow equipped with a sound sensor to measure snoring volume, a pair of air cushions, an air pump, and a communication module. It connects to a central controller and user terminal via wired or wireless networks to inflate or deflate the cushions based on snoring intensity, thereby adjusting the user's head position.

Snoring and sleep apnea not only cause daytime sleepiness and reduced concentration but also increase the risk of adult diseases such as hypertension, stroke, and myocardial infarction, while disrupting the sleep of family members. Existing anti-snoring solutions, however, fail to operate actively based on the user's snoring state and lack the ability to record and analyze snoring patterns to provide health insights.

In this system, the central controller compares the received sound levels against preset or user-defined thresholds to adjust air inflation speed and patterns, triggering terminal alerts, external assistance requests, or SNS notifications when necessary. The user terminal analyzes snoring history periodically to provide product recommendations and information on specialized clinics. Applicable to smart bedding, home sleep management services, and nursing facility monitoring, it enables remote management of respiratory status during sleep for multiple users.

Key Features:
  • Anti-snoring pillow including a sound sensor for measuring snoring volume, a pair of air cushions that expand and contract based on air volume, an air pump, a processor, and a communication module
  • Central controller equipped with a storage management unit that saves multi-level snoring volumes and user-specified sound levels, and transmits control signals to the air pump of each pillow
  • User terminal equipped with an audio module, transceiver, storage and analysis unit, and display to request information from specific pillows and show analysis results
  • Wired/wireless integration structure where the anti-snoring process of the central controller operates only when the user terminal sends a control authorization signal
