Transformed acetogen strain producing ethanol from carbon monoxide in waste gas

This technology presents a transformed strain capable of producing ethanol, created by introducing foreign genes into the ethanol non-producing acetogen Eubacterium limosum, along with a method for producing ethanol using this strain.

There has been a demand for an eco-friendly bioprocess that converts carbon monoxide contained in waste gas into high-value substances.

This technology converts acetogens, which previously lacked ethanol-producing capability, into ethanol-producing strains, enabling the production of high-value ethanol as a single product from carbon monoxide in waste gas.

Key Features:
  • Transformed strain developed by introducing foreign genes into ethanol non-producing acetogens
  • Utilizes carbon monoxide in waste gas as a raw material
  • Production of high-value ethanol as a single product
  • Eco-friendly bioprocess based on carbon valorization
