Real-time Radiation Dose Monitoring System Using a Plastic Fluorescent Panel

This technology is a plastic fluorescent panel-based system and method for real-time monitoring of radiation irradiated by a radiation therapy device.

During radiation therapy, accurately verifying the irradiated dose in real-time was challenging, leading to limitations in treatment quality control.

This technology uses a plastic fluorescent panel on the front of the gantry to generate visible light corresponding to the amount of radiation transmitted. A processor then analyzes the size and color of the dose distribution map captured by a camera to measure and output the dose in real-time.

Key Features:
  • A plastic fluorescent panel that generates visible light corresponding to the amount of radiation transmitted
  • A structure positioned on the front of the gantry that transmits radiation
  • A camera that acquires the dose distribution map
  • A processor that measures and outputs the dose based on the size and color of the visible light region
