Non-invasive Diabetes Diagnosis Method and Kit Utilizing Tear Metabolites

This technology relates to a composition for diagnosing diabetes and a method for providing information, which includes a substance for detecting specific metabolites in the tears of diabetic patients.

Conventional diabetes diagnosis relies on invasive methods such as blood sampling, causing inconvenience for early and self-diagnosis. Consequently, there has been a demand for simple and non-invasive diagnostic tools.

This technology identifies tear metabolite biomarkers through GC/TOF MS analysis, showing increased levels of threonine, mannose, sorbitol, etc., and decreased levels of 1,5-anhydroglucitol, beta-alanine, etc. This enables accurate and non-invasive diagnosis of diabetes using only tears.

Key Features:
  • A composition for diagnosing diabetes containing a substance that detects specific metabolites in tears
  • Biomarker identification through GC/TOF MS-based metabolite profiling
  • Utilizing patterns of increased threonine, mannose, sorbitol, etc., and decreased 1,5-anhydroglucitol, beta-alanine, etc.
  • Can be implemented as a non-invasive, self-diagnostic kit that does not require blood sampling
