This technology relates to an LED detection method and apparatus for separating overlapping LEDs. Specifically, it is an image detection technology for separating overlapping LEDs based on a reference table.
In existing technology, when multiple LEDs overlap in an image within a vehicular visible light communication environment, there was a problem in stably distinguishing the position and center of each LED. To address this, the present technology proposes a method that manages LED information detected and separated in previous frames as a reference table, and then separately detects each LED using candidate centers and temporary boundary points in overlapping frames.
Accordingly, this technology can increase the identification accuracy of overlapping LEDs and improve the reliability of vehicle-to-vehicle visible light communication and image-based signal recognition. It has application value in the automotive, mobility, broadcasting, telecommunications, and electronic device sectors.
