This technology is an exoskeleton module worn on the user's hand and wrist. It is an upper-limb rehabilitation robot module and system that recognizes external objects using a camera and distance sensor, determines the object through an interface and direction control based on the user's arm strength, and then actuates the fingers to grasp the object.

Existing hand rehabilitation robots suffer from low accuracy and high noise in biosignal recognition, such as electromyography (EMG). Furthermore, it is difficult to determine the intentions of paralyzed patients due to their lack of muscle strength, making these robots impractical for daily use.

This technology proposes a control system that uses image processing-based object correction via a camera and distance sensor, along with an interface that allows the user to visually confirm and select the object to be grasped. This enables precise guidance of the finger actuators by accurately reflecting the user's intent. It can be used for assisting paralyzed patients in daily life and for hand rehabilitation training; by relying on vision-based intent rather than biosignals, it allows even patients with weak muscle strength to use the device.

Key Features:
  • Exoskeleton-type rehabilitation robot module worn on the user's hand and wrist
  • Camera unit for recognizing external objects and distance sensor for measuring the distance to the object
  • Interface for the user to visually confirm and select the object to be grasped
  • Actuator that moves the fingers to grasp the selected object
